Course Offerings

Students will take each of the two courses offered on the program. Courses will be co-taught by UA and USC faculty with UA and USC students collaborating in both courses (6 hours):

  • APR 426: International Public Relations (Huffaker) AND

University of South Carolina students register for:

  • JOUR 518: Brand Communication in the Caribbean (Hayes) AND

  • JOUR 596: Social Media Analytics for Tourism Marketing (Hayes)

APR 426: International
Public Relations/ JOUR 518: Brand Communication in the Caribbean

Lead Instructor: Mr. Randall Huffaker

 

APR 426/JOUR 518 will teach students the role of advertising and public relations in the Caribbean and other countries, in different contexts, and at the local, regional, national, and international level.

​

Working on a local Sint Maarten client, students will develop an integrated advertising and public relations plan allowing the client to reach the global, culturally diverse audiences that visit Sint Maarten.

APR 490: Social Media Analytics for Tourism Marketing/ JOUR 596: Social Media Analytics for Tourism Marketing

Lead Instructor: Dr. Jameson Hayes

APR 490/JOUR 596 will train students to use social media analytics alongside traditional word-of-mouth and partnerships to develop actionable insights for advertising and public relations campaigns in the unique Caribbean tourism environment.

 

Working on a local client brand, students will first gain expertise in social media analytics research. Next, students will apply their skills in developing social media marketing recommendations for the client.
