This past week has definitely been my favorite with fun activities such as riding horses through the ocean, the Rhino Safari, and a day out on the catamaran. These experiences are some that I will never forget and I’m happy I got to experience them with the new friends I’ve made on this trip.
A small group of us started the week with a once-in-a-lifetime experience which was our horseback ride through the beautiful ocean side of Sint Maarten at Seaside Nature Park. I got to ride an amazing horse named Bella, she was well behaved but definitely had a plan of her own when we were on the ride. We started off the ride through the rocky mountains looking over the gorgeous ocean. The view was unbeatable and riding on the back of a horse made it so much better. I’ve always loved horseback riding ever since I was a little kid and I even used to teach horseback riding lessons to my campers when I was a camp counselor, so going on this excursion was definitely nostalgic for me. After riding around for a little we stopped at the top of a cliff to share champagne and roast marshmallows. We got to watch the sunset over the ocean and it was truly breathtaking. To end this amazing experience we got to ride the horses into the ocean, this was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. I’m so happy that the group of us decided to partake in this incredible excursion together.
On Tuesday, all of us went on the Rhino Safari, a little self-driven boat tour around the island. When the professor first told us about this, I thought that we were going to go on a safari and see real rhinos, but I have to say this was much more fun than that would’ve been! The rhino boats fit two people so Rhianna and I rode together and we had a BLAST! The water was a bit rough that day, but that just made the ride even more fun. Rhianna and I were definitely going the fastest out of everyone; we started all the way in the back of the line and ended up cutting everyone in front of us. Rhianna and I have been friends for over a year and we are always up for a fun and new experience. After riding around for a while, we stopped at a snorkeling location, put on our snorkel gear, and started to explore the beautiful underwater scenery.
This week in class, we learned all about Sprinklr and how to navigate it. We completed two Sprinklr courses, Lead Generation and Crisis Management. We learned about making keyword lists and managing crises at different stages.
To end the week in the best way, we all get to spend the day on the Tango Catamaran. This is the day that I’ve been excited about the whole trip! I love boats and I was very excited to spend the beautiful day on the water with everyone. Despite the 7 a.m. departure time, I was very excited! The boat stopped a few times so we all could swim around, jump off the top of the boat, slide down the water slide, and just enjoy the view from the ocean. I had so much fun spending the day with all the amazing new friends I’ve made on this trip.
Studying abroad in Sint Maarten has made me realize how grateful I am to have met such great people on this trip that I might have not gotten to meet if I didn’t come. I can’t believe we only have one week left here, but I’m excited to make the most of the time we have left here.
